Don’t Ever “Unsubscribe” From SPAM
This may seem obvious to some of you, but believe me, it’s not obvious to everyone. You know those kajillion emails you get practically every day… the ones that look legitimate, but let you know you can simply “click to unsubscribe” if the email has come to you in error?
Well, all the unscrupulous folks who auto-generate those messages using sophisticated software are doing is fishing. They’re fishing for valid email addresses, which you have just confirmed to them by clicking on those links. Be prepared to be bombarded with even more spam, or worse, to catch a nasty virus or spyware!
This actually happened to my brother-in-law, who got fed up with the emails and decided to “unsubscribe” from them. Next thing he new, his computer (which he uses for business daily) was all gummed up. His work was ruined (at least that which wasn’t backed up offsite - another topic for a coming review).
Long story short: Just don’t do it. The best thing to do is to just delete them. Simple, right?
